Movie Collector is surprisingly easy to use. Most database based software can be difficult to understand and quiet cumbersome, but Movie Collector manages to avoid most of the common pitfalls and makes this software not only easy, but kind of fun.
We also noticed that Movie Collector’s importing seemed to be quite fast; even faster than DVD Profiler.
Perhaps our only criticism would be that when you are uploading titles automatically you select add but there is nothing that confirms your upload was successful. At first we uploaded a few titles twice. We would maybe like to see a short list or queue displayed for each upload session.
We didn’t have any difficulties installing Movie Collector. The application is not very big and a cable or DSL connection can download it in just a few moments.
We do want to stress that you need to be connected to the internet to use the automatic upload feature. It is not suggested you use Movie Collector with a dial-up connection.
Movie Collector includes all the required and typical technical support options including a built-in user manual, email support and online FAQ and forums.
We were a little disappointed when we contacted support through email because although our email was responded to in less than a day the answer we were given wasn’t particularly helpful. Fortunately, most of your questions can be answered via the user guide or forums.
As movie lovers and collectors ourselves we would have loved to put Movie Collector as our #1 DVD Collection program; however, the absence of the loan manager in the standard edition is just too much for us to overlook. Otherwise, the easy to use interface, comprehensive automatic upload details and search functionality make Movie Collector a great program.
